Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is looking for an Engineering Technician 2/3 to support our Weapons Systems team in Rocket Center, WV. The Engineering Technician 2/3 provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

This is an onsite position in Rocket Center, WV. No remote work is available for this role.

This position will be filled at either the Engineering Technician 2 or Engineering Technician 3 level based on the selected candidate's individual experience and demonstrated qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Samples raw materials per procedural requirements.
  • Communicates with multiple departments and multiple levels of authority on a daily basis.
  • Provides technical support to plant personnel on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Uses computer-based systems and laboratory information systems extensively for data entry, tracking, and label generation.
  • Follows engineering documentation requirements including specifications and drawings.
  • Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.
  • Maintains the highest safety standards by following documented procedures.
  • Maintains high ethical standards of work and personal conduct.
  • Monitors gauge and instrument calibrations. Ensures calibration cycles are not exceeded.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Operates modern analytical instrumentation.
  • Performs standard analytical test methods for quality control, material assessment, or engineering evaluation.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results.
  • Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas.
  • Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
  • Disposes of raw materials per regulatory guidelines.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions.
  • Makes and records observations; performs simple calculations; collects and prepares data for evaluation; and documents results in lab notebook and lab management system.
  • Conducts laboratory support functions such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment; arranging and dismantling apparatus; and collecting, washing, and storing glassware.

Basic Qualifications Engineering Technician 2:

  • High school diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in MS office.
  • Ability and willingness to provide coverage on weekends and off shifts as needed.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds and ability to work in tight spaces.
  • Ability to obtain a United States Government Secret Security Clearance for which US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year Technology Degree preferred.
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals and solvents preferred.
  • Experience working in an analytical lab.

Basic Qualifications Engineering Technician 3:

  • High school diploma and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in an analytical lab.
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in MS office.
  • Ability and willingness to provide coverage on weekends and off shifts as needed.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds and ability to work in tight spaces.
  • Ability to obtain a United States Government Secret Security Clearance for which US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year Technology Degree preferred.
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals and solvents preferred.
Primary Level Salary Range: $48,400.00 - $80,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
