Location: NTTC Lackland/ San Antonio, Texas

Overtime Exempt: No

Reports To: ARMADA HQ

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Weapons Based Support Instructor delivers small arms weapons instruction in accordance with Navy Security Forces training requirements and CENSECFOR curriculum.
  • The Weapons Based Support Instructor provides training designed to ensure students safely handle, operate, and qualify with assigned small arms.
  • Conduct live-fire qualifications, weapons handling demonstrations, safety briefings, and course remediation as needed.
  • Assist with range setup, weapon issuance, ammunition accountability, and compliance with Navy and DoD safety protocols.
  • Complete required Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) for Small Arms Instructor and Line Coach duties, including documentation in the Instructor Training Jacket (ITJ).
  • Support testing procedures, academic standards, student performance evaluation, and remediation activities.
  • The Weapons Based Support Instructor maintains strict safety oversight during all live-fire evolutions and ensures adherence to highrisk training precautions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of military and civilian security force weapons handling techniques.
  • Ability to instruct and supervise students safely during livefire events.
  • Understanding of weapons safety, range procedures, Navy weapons qualification standards, and related PQS requirements.
  • Strong communication skills to deliver technical instruction effectively.
  • Ability to perform weapons qualification tasks from standing, kneeling, and prone positions and operate in varied environmental conditions.
  • Familiarity with Navy terminology, rank structures, installation layouts, and operational environments.
  • Ability to obtain required weapons instructor certifications and maintain all qual
  • Possess a basic understanding of Military/Civilian Security Force techniques.

Minimum/General Experience:

  • Possesses at least two years of past military experience in a weapons-carrying and employment operational environment or equivalent experience as a Law Enforcement officer with a military or civilian security force.
  • Qualified as a small arms weapons' instructor.

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
