About the Role

As a Senior Tax Associate, youโ€™ll deliver tax services to high-net-worth individuals, including preparing individual, trust, gift, and pass-through-entity income tax returns. You will assist with tax research and contribute to the development of customized financial plans as part of our integrated advisory approach. This is a strong opportunity for a detail-oriented professional eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a collaborative team that prioritizes quality, accuracy, and personalized service.

This is a full-time hybrid position located in Richmond, VA and reports to the Tax & Financial Planning Manager.

Key ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation & Review
  • Prepare and review individual, trust, gift, and passthroughentity income tax returns, estimates, and projections
  • Review workpapers, calculations, and return details to resolve discrepancies before submission
  • Research and analyze complex or atypical tax issues and share recommendations with tax team and clients
  • Respond to inquiries from IRS and other taxing authorities on behalf of clients, including assisting with tax audits
  • Monitor tax law changes impacting highnetworth individuals and communicate relevant updates to advisors and clients
  • Financial Planning
  • Gather, input, and analyze clientsโ€™ financial data and circumstances to develop tailored, comprehensive financial plans
  • Maintain effective control procedures over financialplanningrelated client service process and daily client activities
  • Support planning around estate and gift tax strategies, generational wealth transfer, Roth conversions, required minimum distributions, and qualified charitable distributions
  • Client Service & Communication
  • Build longterm client relationships and support business development through excellent service
  • Promptly communicate with clients regarding tax and financial planning engagements ensuring ongoing support
  • Follow up with associates and clients to resolve corrections, discrepancies, missing information, and other inquiries
  • Participate in client meetings and communicate work statuses and significant changes with appropriate team members
  • Gather, analyze, and input relevant client information into CRM systems and other platforms
  • Workflow Management
  • Manage multiple work assignments, team members, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Provide ongoing guidance, support, and feedback to junior associates through regular coaching and teachable moments
  • Review work prepared by associates and provide clear, constructive feedback to ensure accuracy, quality, and professional development
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in relevant field
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • At least 2 years of public accounting experience
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak tax periods
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience preparing estate and trust tax returns for highnetworth individuals
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess Tax, Bloomberg Income Tax Planner, Canopy, or comparable tax platforms
  • Proficiency in Envestnet MoneyGuideElite, Holistiplan, or comparable financial planning platforms
  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERยฎ certification

    The expected base salary range for this position in Richmond, VA is between $70,000 to $100,000 USD annually. This reflects the annual base salary range that GGWM reasonably expects to pay for this position based on a number of factors, which may include relevant job knowledge, skill sets, education, experience, and actual work location of the individual selected for this role.
