What does a wealth associate do?

A Wealth Associate supports financial advisors and wealth management teams in serving clients' investment and financial planning needs. Their responsibilities often include preparing client reports, assisting with account administration, researching investment options, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Wealth Associates also help facilitate client communications and may participate in developing financial strategies under the guidance of senior advisors. They play a critical role in delivering high-quality service and enhancing the client experience within wealth management firms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wealth associate?

To thrive as a Wealth Associate, you need a solid understanding of financial products, investment strategies, and regulatory compliance, often supported by a degree in finance or economics and relevant certifications such as FINRA Series 7 and 66. Proficiency in portfolio management software, CRM systems, and financial planning tools is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a client-focused mindset distinguish top performers in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for building trust, managing client portfolios effectively, and ensuring compliance in a highly regulated industry.

  • Execute client requests, including money movement, distributions, contributions, wires, journals, and other account activity.
  • Support portfolio reviews, investment implementation, and trade execution.
  • Coordinate with custodians and internal partners to ensure requests are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accurate client information, planning data, and documentation within firm systems.
  • Take ownership of client needs from initial request through completion.

What We're Looking For

  • Active CFP certification required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Multiple years of hands-on financial planning or private wealth management experience
  • Experience developing comprehensive financial plans and recommendations
  • Strong knowledge of life insurance and risk-management planning
  • Experience working directly with clients and answering complex questions
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
  • Series 7 or ability to obtain the Series 7 within 90 days of joining
  • Experience with high-net-worth clients preferred
  • Experience with eMoney, Envestnet, NetX360, or similar platforms is a plus

Why Join the Team

This is an opportunity to be deeply involved in both the strategy and execution of private wealth management. You'll work closely with an experienced Private Wealth Advisor, develop sophisticated planning recommendations, build meaningful client relationships, and expand your advisory influence over time.
