What does a wealth associate do?

A Wealth Associate supports financial advisors and wealth management teams in serving clients' investment and financial planning needs. Their responsibilities often include preparing client reports, assisting with account administration, researching investment options, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Wealth Associates also help facilitate client communications and may participate in developing financial strategies under the guidance of senior advisors. They play a critical role in delivering high-quality service and enhancing the client experience within wealth management firms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wealth associate?

To thrive as a Wealth Associate, you need a solid understanding of financial products, investment strategies, and regulatory compliance, often supported by a degree in finance or economics and relevant certifications such as FINRA Series 7 and 66. Proficiency in portfolio management software, CRM systems, and financial planning tools is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a client-focused mindset distinguish top performers in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for building trust, managing client portfolios effectively, and ensuring compliance in a highly regulated industry.

What are the typical growth opportunities for a wealth associate within a financial advisory firm?

Many firms also offer structured training, mentorship, and licensing support to help Wealth Associates advance. Career growth is typically linked to developing technical expertise, building trust with clients, and contributing to the firm's overall success.

Job description

YOUR IMPACT

Alternative Capital Markets is seeking an Associate to join the Liquidity Management team, focusing on Deal Execution and Operations.

OUR IMPACT

Wealth Management

Across Wealth Management, Goldman Sachs helps empower clients and customers around the world to reach their financial goals. Our advisor-led wealth management businesses provide financial planning, investment management, banking and comprehensive advice to a wide range of clients, including ultra-high net worth and high net worth individuals, as well as family offices, foundations and endowments, and corporations and their employees. Our consumer business provides digital solutions for customers to better spend, borrow, invest, and save. Across Wealth Management, our growth is driven by a relentless focus on our people, our clients and customers, and leading-edge technology, data and design.

About Alternative Capital Markets (ACM)

Alternative Capital Markets is a global team with 60+ alternative investment professionals across eight offices, responsible for over $120B+ in AUS, serving institutions, foundations, family offices, high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals. ACM is the architect of the Wealth Alternatives platform including private equity, growth / venture capital, private credit, private real estate, hedge funds, co-investments and impact private investing. These offerings include AM Private, XIG, and third-party external investment strategies, as well as differentiated private company access via both internal and external referrals. ACM's full-service capital markets business covers the entire lifecycle of an alternative investment, from investment sourcing to client solutions, as well as a discretionary offering enabling programmatic platform access, an in-house liquidity platform for clients (qualified matching service, or QMS), and dedicated platform management and strategy.

ACM's Liquidity Solutions business is rapidly growing given the increased commitments to private assets across private wealth investors and the natural need for liquidity over time. The Liquidity Solutions team focuses on a range of offerings, including a quarterly auction process, tail-end fund liquidity sales and strategic transactions for specific platform assets.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Transaction Management: Lead the end-to-end operational execution and closing process for secondary transactions, including quarterly auctions, tail-end fund sales, and strategic platform asset transactions.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary connection point and liaison between the deal team and supporting operations, legal, compliance, tax, and technology teams to ensure seamless transaction flow.
  • Process Optimization & Controls: Monitor, streamline, and document internal operational workflows to mitigate risk, enhance transaction efficiency, and support the rapid scaling of the Liquidity Solutions platform.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate across a variety of internal and external stakeholders (including external managers, custodians, and transfer agents) to facilitate transfer approvals, documentation, and settlement.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Alignment: Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure all transaction execution processes adhere to strict regulatory requirements and internal risk management frameworks.
  • Infrastructure Scaling: Partner with technology teams and external vendors to design, test, and integrate the next phase of the Liquidity Solutions platform infrastructure.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead operational and platform-focused strategic initiatives to support the rapid scaling of the secondary transaction business.
  • Process Automation: Identify opportunities to automate manual operational steps, reducing transaction cycle times and improving execution accuracy.

This role is primarily focused on deal execution, transaction operations, and closing management for the Liquidity Solutions business. The successful candidate will serve as the critical bridge and connection point between the deal teams and the broader operations, legal, compliance, and technology teams that support the platform. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of complex secondary transactions, managing the operational lifecycle of private asset liquidity events, and driving the infrastructure development that supports this rapidly growing business.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelors Degree or higher.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial services, with a strong preference for operations, transaction management, middle office, or deal execution roles within wealth/asset management or private investing.
  • Proven track record of managing complex operational workflows, deal closings, or settlement processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to act as a bridge between deal teams and support teams.
  • Strong project management skills with an efficiency-focused mindset and the ability to balance complex timelines.
  • High attention to detail, strong risk awareness, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment.
  • Self-starter who can work independently while maintaining strong collaborative ties across global functions.
