The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Senior Manager is responsible for leading and managing the environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance functions at a corporate level to ensure that Generac operations are conducted in conformance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, permits and regulations while maximizing the use of industry best practices. This position is also responsible for coordinating and leading team members to meet or exceed company business objectives. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams at all of the Generac global facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop multi-year strategic EHS plan for the organization that can be communicated enterprise wide.
  • Ensure that Generac Power Systems is in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Develop and lead the corporate culture surrounding a safe, healthy work environment for our employees.
  • Minimize waste stream costs by driving initiatives surrounding reduction, recycling and supply chain partnerships.
  • Manage and perform the planning, training, inspection, reporting and recordkeeping requirements for all environmental and safety compliance programs.
  • Review projects for environmental permit applicability as a project team member, prepares permit applications and obtains necessary permits in coordination with Generac and regulatory personnel.
  • Develop, manage and monitor all environmental permitting programs.
  • Proactively stays current with changes and updates to regulatory compliance requirements, ensuring appropriate updates to company policies and procedures
  • Act as the primary point of contact and coordinator for concerns or issues in the area of environmental compliance, health and safety.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory officials.
  • Respond to and coordinates the response for urgent environmental, health and safety situations.
  • Develop requirements for and managing environmental performance contracts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 7 - 10 years of progressive management experience in a similar working environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Previous manufacturing ergonomics experience with analysis tools;
  • Ability to evaluate situations objectively and ability to make decisions that are intended to have a positive impact on work performance and the total business;
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and project management;
  • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA, EPA, WDNR, DOT and local regulations;
  • Excellent working knowledge of ergonomic analysis tools;

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
