Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pool Care Technician to support the operation and maintenance of our aquatic facilities. This role focuses on scheduled pool maintenance, physical cleaning, equipment checks, and planned chemical work across multiple locations.
Routine chemical testing during lesson hours is supported by on-site Deck Managers. This allows the Pool Care Technician to focus primarily on maintenance, deep cleaning, water quality support, and facility upkeep outside of active class times.
Pool care certification will be provided by the company. Candidates must have reliable personal transportation and be comfortable traveling between sites in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania.
This position follows a seasonal schedule that may vary throughout the year, with most work occurring during daytime, non-lesson hours. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be requested as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Weekly and scheduled duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform scheduled pool cleaning tasks including vacuuming, brushing, skimming, and debris removal
  • Support water quality management by:
    • Reviewing chemical logs and pool records
    • Performing scheduled chemical adjustments
    • Completing planned pool shocking and major chemical corrections under Facilities Manager direction
  • Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot basic pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, and chlorination systems
  • Keep pump rooms clean, organized, and compliant with operational standards
  • Perform scheduled facility maintenance tasks, including:
    • Pressure washing decks and exterior surfaces (quarterly)
    • Tile and grout cleaning (monthly)
    • Filter changes and general facility upkeep
  • Conduct monthly external water testing and report results to leadership
  • Monitor chemical inventory levels and communicate ordering needs
  • Identify maintenance issues and communicate concerns promptly to leadership
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and local health regulations

This role does not perform electrical repairs, major plumbing work, or equipment replacement. Licensed vendors and leadership handle major mechanical repairs.
Requirements:
  • Reliable personal transportation required
  • Must be able to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
  • Ability to travel between Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania locations
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Comfort performing physical tasks including lifting, bending, and working indoors and outdoors
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Willingness to obtain pool care certification (provided and paid for by the company)
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and communicate clearly with Deck Managers and Facilities Leadership

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior pool maintenance, facilities, or mechanical experience is a plus but not required
  • Basic familiarity with tools and equipment
  • Dependable, organized, and proactive work style

What We Offer:
  • Guaranteed 20 hours per week with opportunity to increase up to 30 hours during busier seasons
  • Predictable weekly schedule aligned with lesson operations
  • Pool Operator certification provided
  • Hands-on training and ongoing support

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured maintenance work, takes pride in clean and well-run facilities, and prefers a predictable part-time schedule.
