We are looking for a dedicated Fisheries Biologist to join Trinity Consultants Canada Water & Ecology. WONDERING WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Your role will require you to bring a high standard of scientific excellence to your daily work. The following responsibilities will be in your domain:

  • Leading and supporting the planning and implementation of fisheries and aquatic assessment projects across Canada.
  • Conducting assessments focused on fish habitat, fish communities and health, integrating elements in areas such as geomorphology, limnology, hydrology, water/sediment quality, and benthic invertebrate communities.
  • Contributing fish and fish habitat expertise to large multi-disciplinary projects in collaboration with our other senior staff.
  • Mentoring junior team members and supporting knowledge sharing within the aquatic sciences team.
  • Representing Trinity Consultants Canada - Water & Ecology in the scientific community through high-quality deliverables, industry engagement, and participation in technical conferences.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience, including fish collection using various methods, fish community characterization, and assessment of fish population and health data.
  • Effective analytical and technical editing and review skills, and ability to ensure the delivery of high-quality reports and proposals.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences including team members, clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics.
  • Hands-on expertise in planning and conducting aquatic field programs using a variety of sampling techniques for water, sediment, benthic invertebrates, fish and fish habitat; familiarity with QA/QC protocols and data integrity standards.
  • Competent with Microsoft programs
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis
  • R.P.Bio. (or equivalent professional designation), or eligibility for registration is an asset
  • Experience in the mining sector is an asset
