Job description

American Pump & Drilling is a fast-growing local business looking for an experienced Pump Rig Operator to join our team. APD has physical locations in Ucon, Idaho; Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Afton, Wyoming, and specializes in delivering water. This position will be based out of Ucon, Idaho. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities include:

  • Drive and operate a pump rig
  • Troubleshoot pump assemblies
  • Properly install and remove column assemblies for pumps
  • Perform preventative maintenance on pump rigs and service trucks
  • Maintain documentation for work performed
  • Prepare and keep a maintenance log for assigned vehicles and equipment


Desired Skills:

  • Current Class A CDL (with airbrakes), required
  • 2+ years experience with turbine pumps
  • 2+ years experience running a pump rig
  • 2+ years experience running a boom truck
  • 2+ years experience managing a crew of 2-3
  • Experience wiring pump motors
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems on equipment and pumps
  • Ability to lift and operate heavy tools
  • Experience or willingness to learn troubleshooting and repair of submersible pumps
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to complete jobs in progress
  • Willingness to travel within 200 miles and stay overnight (very infrequent, if at all) as needed to complete jobs
  • Willing to adhere to strict safety rules and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to accept feedback productively
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • General mechanic skills or mechanical aptitude a plus
