Job Summary

*This is an on-site position

We are seeking a qualified and passionate individual to join our team as an Aquatic Training Instructor. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Aquatic training courses, ensuring participants acquire the necessary skills to ensure water safety. As an Aquatic Training Instructor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of Aquatic staff by providing engaging and informative instruction on water rescue techniques, CPR, first aid, and AED usage.

You'll be tasked with leading hands-on and classroom sessions, evaluating participants' progress, and cultivating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for learning. The ideal candidate should possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification, along with certifications in lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Strong communication, adaptability, and leadership skills are essential to excel in this role.

Hiring Range: $24.00 - $26.40/hour DOE 


Responsibilities
  • Conduct American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPRO training courses, ensuring adherence to program standards.
  • Conduct Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) training courses, ensuring adherence to program standards.
  • Instruct participants in water rescue techniques, CPR, first aid, and AED usage.
  • Demonstrate and evaluate lifeguarding skills, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Facilitate engaging and informative classroom sessions on water safety, emergency procedures, and lifeguard responsibilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of American Red Cross guidelines and certifications.
  • Assess participants' performance through practical demonstrations and written exams.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging active participation.
  • Stay informed about advancements in lifeguarding and water safety practices.
  • Submit Course Records in Accordance with American Red Cross and YGS standards. In partnership with Human Resources and Risk Management ensure YGS compliance with Aquatics Safety plan and training requirements for staff.
  • Develops and implements strategies to raise funds to provide free access to Safety Around Water to communities that need it most.
  • Provides support and association-level leadership to branch aquatic directors. Supports branch leadership in the assessment, evaluation, and coaching of branch aquatic staff.
  • support for committees and task forces as assigned.

· Understanding of local and state regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a part time position and hours will vary depending on when the instructor is scheduled, approximately 10-25 hours per week. Classes are offered Sunday to Saturday throughout the day. Evening and weekend courses are offered. This is an in-person position, CAP trainings can be virtual.

TRAVEL

Instructors must have ability to travel to YGS branches to instruct courses.
