JOB TITLE: Aquatics Coordinator
DIVISION: KINGSLEY ASSOCIATION
DEPARTMENT: Aquatics

JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies efficiently while utilizing The Kingsley Association swimming pool. The role will be administrative and interactive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform lifeguard duties always to prevent aquatic emergencies from chair and deck.
  • Conduct needs assessments and track attendance and participation.
  • Coordinate or assist in the coordination of scheduling.
  • Record all incidents in the pool area and locker rooms and report to the supervisor.
  • Monitor proper use of aquatic equipment such as floatation devices, kickboards, starting blocks, lane markers, etc.
  • Ensure all swimmers have proper attire before entering the pool.
  • Evaluate the aquatic abilities of swimmers before permitting them access to the pool's deep end.
  • Know all emergency procedures and respond to emergencies immediately, in accordance with The Kingsley Association's policies and procedures.
  • Administer First Aid, CPR, and AED as necessary.
  • Communicate with and maintain an effective relationship with members, participants, and other staff.
  • Maintain and clean the pool facility, including the pool deck, locker rooms, recreation office, etc.
  • Record and record all pool chemical readings accurately and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Conduct and record daily safety checks and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Secure all doors when the pool is closed or as appropriate in case of an incident or emergency.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and conferences.
  • Maintain records, reports, and log information.
  • Report for a shift in a timely manner. Notify the supervisor immediately if you are unable to cover the shift.
  • The ability to work flexible hours with some holiday and weekend work required.
  • Ability to participate in all phases of the Aquatics program for all participants.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. as required. It may require more in the event of a water rescue.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity that may include sitting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, and reaching for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
  • Appropriate pool attire must be worn at all times when on duty in the aquatics area.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Lifeguard Certification
  • CPR and AED Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Current Act 33/34 and FBI clearances
  • ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Reports to: Director of Health and Wellness
  • Direct reports: Lifeguards with the assistance of the Director of Health and Wellness
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Natatorium: Employees may be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, chemicals, etc.
  • Indoor
  • Frequently required to work at a fast pace
  • Evening and weekend work required.
Salary $20 - $23 per hour
