Role Summary:
ย 

The Field Service Engineering Specialist is a member of Metergy's Field Service Engineering team and serves as a technical resource for field operations, customer support, and cross-functional initiatives. This role is responsible for investigating complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis, developing field procedures and technical documentation, delivering technical training, and supporting customers and internal teams with advanced metering and communications-related challenges.ย 

The successful candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with practical problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. This role works closely with Field Service, Project Management, Customer Support, Product Development, and Operations teams to improve products, processes, and customer experience.ย 

In addition to supporting day-to-day technical operations, the Field Service Engineering Specialist evaluates new technologies, contributes to design standards and best practices, develops technical drawings and documentation, and helps drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Internal Title: Meter Specialist - Field Services Engineering

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical resource for Field Service, Project Management, Customer Support, and other internal teams, providing expertise on metering systems, communication technologies, and field operations.ย 

  • Investigate complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve product, process, and operational challenges.ย 

  • Provide technical training for field technicians and other internal stakeholders to support new products, technologies, and operational processes.ย 

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation to support field operations, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and training materialsย ย 

  • Manage and prioritize technical support requests through Metergy's ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.ย 

  • Evaluate new products, technologies, and third-party products and solutions to support continuous improvement and business objectives.ย 

  • Analyze electrical and mechanical drawings to provide guidance and support on sub-metering system design principles for electricity, water, gas and thermal services in residential, commercial and mixed-use propertiesย 

  • Develop and maintain technical drawings, schematics, and installation documentation using AutoCAD to support new construction, retrofit, and operational initiatives.ย 

  • Analyze metering and utility data to identify trends, investigate anomalies, and support troubleshooting and operational decision-making.ย 

  • Provide technical expertise on communication and AMR (Automated Meter Reading) equipment to improve business operations and troubleshooting proceduresย 

  • Identify and deliver on continuous improvement opportunitiesย 

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.ย 

  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in multi-family and commercial buildings.ย ย 

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solvingย skillsย 

  • Experience reviewing and creating technical drawings and documentationย 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Auto CADย ย 

  • Strong organization and communication skills, both verbal and writtenย 

  • Experience with technical data analysis and reporting. ย 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently. ย 

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, training, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration, primarily within New York City and periodically to Metergy's Philadelphia office.ย

$70,000 - $80,000 a year
Range reflects base salary and will be dependent on experience. In addition, Metergy offers an annual bonus and other benefits.
