Compensation Range: $109,821 - $159,505.  Based on our Reno, NV office location.  (West Yost uses geographic salary differentials that would apply for candidates in other regions).

This is a Hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Senior Engineer - Treatment

West Yost is seeking a Senior Engineer with a strong interest and experience in water and/or wastewater treatment planning, permitting and design. Expertise is desired in the planning, permitting and design of water and/or wastewater treatment and recycled water systems. This role will contribute to the development of the firm’s Treatment practice and have client involvement.

Essential Duties

  • Perform planning, permitting and design and serve as task manager for water and/or wastewater treatment and recycled water systems.
  • Perform as Engineer of Record in preparing master plans and development of drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare analyses, calculations, equipment evaluations, and preliminary layouts, for water and/or wastewater treatment plants and recycled water systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical memoranda, preliminary design reports, and other reports related to the design of treatment improvements.
  • Assist in coordinating the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design development and contract document phases of a project
  • Review product designs and drawings for compliance with engineering principles, firm standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Engage in professional and effective communication, project administration including tracking task budgets, and staffing needs.
  • Engage in client interaction throughout projects and coordinate with subconsultants.
  • Assist in preparing and negotiating contracts and change orders with clients and subcontractors.
  • Conduct site visits and generate reports and recommendations based on findings.
  • Provide support and technical input during construction of treatment projects.
  • Review constructability of design projects.
  • Work on several projects at one time.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals.
  • Mentor and coach staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience of with technical expertise in water and/or wastewater treatment and recycled water systems planning and design.
  • Experience completing master plans and designs, active project management experience, and the desire and ability to provide superior client service.
  • Positive and clear written and verbal communication practices are essential for success in this position. Excellent staff coaching and mentoring skills are also desired.
  • Top-level candidates who have an interest in expanding the current client base, building a top-level team and working closely with firm Principals are particularly encouraged to confidentially inquire regarding current opportunities.
