Job Description
The City of Ventura Water Department is now accepting applications for the position of Senior Laboratory Analyst. The Senior Laboratory Analyst is responsible for leading and participating in the performance of chemical, physical, biological, and microbiological analyses of potable water, wastewater, industrial waste, storm water, receiving waters, and other environmental samples. Salary and Benefits The City offers a total compensation package that includes both a generous salary plus excellent benefit! Salary: 73,356 - $89,165 Annually DOQ.
Qualifications
Qualifications
A combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in a related field and four years of full-time laboratory analysis experience; or bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of full-time laboratory analysis experience. License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record is required. Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Water Environment Association Laboratory Analyst II certification within 12 months of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment:
works in wastewater laboratory environment with exposure to raw sewage, chemicals, noise, and electrical energy; may have some exposure to outside conditions; may drive a vehicle to collect samples from different locations.
Physical Abilities: hearing and speaking sufficient to exchange information in person or on the telephone; vision within normal range with or without correction; sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping for prolonged periods of time; ability to lift up to 30 pounds; uses hands to handle, feel, or operate laboratory or standard office equipment including personal computer; mental capability to use and apply mathematical reasoning and abstract statistical concepts.
Hazards: exposed to hazardous or toxic chemicals and solvents, fumes, sewage, noise, electrical energy, and computer screens and laboratory equipment.
