Water Laboratory Supervisor Marshfield, WI


SUMMARY STATEMENT

AgSource is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Water Laboratory Supervisor to lead daily operations within our Marshfield Water Laboratory. This role is responsible for overseeing laboratory personnel, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance, managing workflow and turnaround times, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership skills with technical laboratory expertise to maintain a high-performing team dedicated to delivering accurate and timely results to our customers.


RESPONSIBILITIES

    Supervise, coach, and develop laboratory staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and employee development.

    Coordinate daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of testing.

    Monitor laboratory quality systems and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements.

    Review laboratory data, reports, and quality control measures to ensure accuracy and integrity.

    Assist with method validation, process improvements, and implementation of new technologies or procedures.

    Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.

    Manage laboratory inventory, supplies, and reagent needs.

    Collaborate with internal departments and customers to address technical questions and service needs.

    Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    Support budgeting, resource planning, and operational goals established by laboratory leadership.


    REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.

    Previous laboratory experience in an environmental, water, analytical, or related testing environment.

    Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.

    Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office applications.


    PREFERRED

    Experience in a certified environmental or water testing laboratory.

    Knowledge of EPA testing methodologies and laboratory accreditation requirements.

    Experience with quality systems, audits, and regulatory compliance.

    Familiarity with instrumentation commonly used in water testing laboratories
