Laboratory Technician - Drinking Water Focused
Twin City Water Clinic - Hopkins, MN
MDH-Certified Environmental Analytical Laboratory in the Hopkins is now accepting applications for a Part-Time Drinking Water Laboratory Technician. The Lab Tech will assist in sample receipt and preparation as well as clerical duties such as data entry and review. Additionally, they will assist in analyzing drinking water samples for coliform bacteria, arsenic, lead, and nitrate, as well as the preparation of standards and reagents. This is an hourly position with 15-25 hours/week depending on the candidates capacity and schedule.
The hours are 9:00-3:00PM. Some days, usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays, may require staying later to finish sample analysis. This schedule can be somewhat flexible depending on the candidate's schedule.

Essential Duties & Job Functions
40% Sample receipt & preparation
30% Follow established SOPs to assist analyst with the analysis of Total Coliform Bacteria, Nitrate, Arsenic, and Lead in drinking water
10% Address customer inquiries and concerns
10% Assist in preparation of sample kits
5% Assist in keeping the lab clean and organized
5% Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Mandatory
- Valid drivers license and insurance
- Laboratory experience (academic setting is acceptable)
- Knowledgeable in Google Sheets & Excel
- Able to communicate effectively
- Able to take initiative, prioritize, and work independently
- Ability to Multi-task
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Customer service experience
- Has a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science or related field (or in pursuit of one)
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience with GF-AAS, Automated Cadmium Reduction, and/or enzyme substrate tests.
