WBG Water Department 

The WBG Water Department, within the Planet Vice Presidency, leads the World Bank Group's efforts to advance water security through implementation of the Water Strategy Implementation Plan (WSIP) and Water Forward. The Water Department supports countries to strengthen water security through investments, policy reform, knowledge, and partnerships across the pillars of Water for People, Water for Food, and Water for Planet. 

The Water Department Front Office, led by the WBG Water Global Director, is responsible for strategic leadership of the department, including implementation of Water Forward, corporate reporting, knowledge management, quality assurance, operational performance monitoring, senior management engagement, and coordination across regional and global teams. The Front Office works closely with Global Leads, regional teams, IFC and MIGA colleagues, and external partners to strengthen the quality and impact of World Bank Group water engagements.

The World Bank is seeking an Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) to support the Water Department Front Office in implementing priority initiatives related to Water Forward, the WBG Knowledge Bank, and corporate reporting. The consultant will provide analytical, research, coordination, and communications support to strengthen performance monitoring, knowledge management, water quality reporting, and delivery of Front Office priorities across the Water Global Practice portfolio.

The ETC will report directly to the WBG Water Global Director and work as an integral part of the Water Department Front Office team. In this capacity, the ETC will also coordinate closely with regional and global teams, global leads, and other relevant stakeholders across the Water Department, Planet Vice Presidency and Corporate Units.

The specific duties and responsibilities of the ETC will include, but are not limited to:
Support implementation of Water Forward and delivery of WBG Water Department Front Office priorities, including corporate reporting, strategic communications, management engagement, and coordination across teams. 
Assist in coordinating WBG Knowledge Bank technical review processes, including tracking review timelines, outreach to contributing practices, management of comment submissions, and quality assurance workflows.
Contribute to the development of tools and systems for tracking Water Forward implementation and performance indicators, including preparation of dashboards, analytical summaries, and progress reports. 
Support preparation of presentations, briefing materials, talking points, management updates, and other products for senior leadership and external engagements. 
Support tracking and analysis of water quality-related activities across the Water GP portfolio and conduct research on operational trends, emerging issues, and good practices to inform management decision-making. 
Undertake analytical, research, reporting, and coordination assignments in support of Front Office priorities and strategic initiatives.
