M&J is seeking a Data/Business Analyst to provide analytical, data-driven insights to improve operational performance, financial efficiency, and strategic decision-making across key business areas.


  • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform WMATA’s operational and business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance metrics using Power BI, or other visualization tools.
  • Collaborate with WMATA departments to gather business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
  • Conduct data validation, quality assurance, and integrity checks across multiple data sources.
  • Support the creation of data models, predictive analyses, and forecasting tools to enhance planning and resource allocation.
  • Document business processes, workflows, and system interfaces for continuous process improvement.
  • Assist project managers and technical teams with business case development, impact assessments, and performance reporting.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests, KPIs, and performance monitoring as required by WMATA leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with WMATA’s data governance, security, and reporting standards.
  • Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or related role.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel (advanced), and data manipulation/cleansing techniques.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical teams.
  • Experience supporting transportation, government, or public sector clients (WMATA experience is highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of WMATA’s systems, KPIs, and operational data frameworks.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, PMBOK, etc.).
  • Experience with Python, R, or other statistical tools a plus.
