Job description

Water Damage Restoration Technician

Harrisburg, PA
Full-Time | Direct Hire
$25–$30+/hour
Emergency Response | Water Damage | Structural Drying | Mitigation

We are hiring an experienced Water Damage Restoration Technician for a direct-hire opportunity with an established restoration company serving the Harrisburg area.

This is not an entry-level restoration position.

We are looking for someone who can independently assess water losses, perform extraction, determine drying plans, set and monitor equipment, take moisture readings, document jobs properly, and lead technicians or temporary labor when needed.

The right candidate will be hands-on, dependable, comfortable managing multiple active losses, and willing to participate in an after-hours emergency response rotation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Respond to residential and commercial water damage emergencies
  • Assess water losses and determine the appropriate mitigation and drying plan
  • Perform water extraction and removal
  • Set up air movers, dehumidifiers, containment, and other drying equipment
  • Take and document moisture readings
  • Monitor drying progress and adjust equipment as needed
  • Perform demolition and removal of damaged materials when required
  • Handle sewage, mold, fire/smoke, and biohazard-related losses when assigned
  • Complete job documentation, photos, readings, notes, and required paperwork
  • Communicate with customers, property managers, adjusters, and internal management
  • Lead other technicians, helpers, or temporary laborers on larger projects
  • Manage several active mitigation projects at the same time
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles, and jobsite cleanliness
  • Follow all safety procedures and restoration standards
  • Participate in after-hours emergency call-outs, including nights and weekends

What We're Looking For

Qualified candidates should have hands-on disaster restoration or mitigation experience involving water damage and structural drying.

We are especially interested in candidates with experience in:

  • Water damage restoration
  • Structural drying
  • Water extraction
  • Moisture mapping
  • Dehumidification
  • Air mover setup
  • Sewage losses
  • Mold remediation
  • Fire and smoke damage
  • Biohazard cleanup
  • Emergency restoration
  • Commercial losses
  • Large-loss restoration
  • Supervising technicians or temporary labor
  • Managing multiple active mitigation projects

Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of hands-on mitigation or restoration experience preferred
  • Ability to independently assess and stabilize a water loss
  • Experience setting and monitoring drying equipment
  • Strong knowledge of moisture meters and documentation requirements
  • Experience leading technicians, helpers, or temporary labor
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Strong customer communication skills
  • Comfortable working in stressful emergency-loss situations
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be willing to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding restoration work
  • IICRC certifications are highly preferred

Preferred certifications include:

  • IICRC WRT
  • IICRC ASD
  • IICRC AMRT
  • Fire & Smoke Restoration
  • Odor Control
  • Other restoration-related certifications

Pay & Additional Compensation

  • Starting pay: $25/hour to $30+/hour based on experience
  • Full-time, direct-hire position
  • $100 call-out bonus for qualifying after-hours emergency responses
  • Additional bonus opportunities for qualifying biohazard work
  • Overtime opportunities

What Makes This Opportunity Different

This position is ideal for an experienced mitigation technician who wants more responsibility without moving completely away from hands-on restoration work.

You may be running a smaller project with one additional technician one day and coordinating a much larger loss with multiple technicians or temporary laborers the next.

You will have the opportunity to manage several projects at once while still being directly involved in extraction, drying, demolition, equipment setup, monitoring, documentation, and emergency response.

This is a long-term direct-hire opportunity with a company that values experienced restoration professionals who can think independently, lead people, and get jobs stabilized correctly.

Apply Today

Experienced Water Damage Restoration Technicians, Lead Mitigation Technicians, Senior Mitigation Technicians, Restoration Technicians, Water Mitigation Technicians, Disaster Restoration Technicians, Emergency Restoration Technicians, and IICRC-Certified Restoration Technicians are encouraged to apply.

If you can independently assess a water loss, build a drying plan, run the equipment, document the job, and lead others when needed, we want to hear from you.
