Job description

Water Maintenance Technician I - Water Compliance Coordinator: Grade 10 - ($20.95 - $28.26 DOQ) - High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License.

Certification Requirements:

  • Grade I Certified Water Distribution Operator within one (1) year of hire date.
  • Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement within six (6) months of hire date.

Water Maintenance Technician II - Water Compliance Coordinator: Grade 12 - ($23.05 - $32.34 DOQ) - High school graduate or equivalent. Must have two (2) years of combined work experience equivalent to Water Maintenance Technician I or Compliance Coordinator experience (preferred).

Certification Requirements:

  • Utah Grade II Certified Water Distribution Operator within six (6) months of hire date. (Unrestricted, according to R309-300 Table 5)
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within three (3) months of hire date.
  • Certified Cross Connection Control Program Administrator within six (6) months of hire date.
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire date.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of water systems operations.
  • Knowledge of water line maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of compliance coordination
  • Ability to track deadlines and maintain detailed records.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations staff and regulators.

Description:

Under the direction of the Water Field Supervisor and Water Lead Worker, assists in the maintenance and repair of the Water and PI system for the city.

Duties:

Water Maintenance Technician I - Water Compliance Coordinator

  • Assist with compliance under applicable drinking water regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required reports through the Utah Division of Drinking Water systems under the supervisor's direction.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records.
  • Track compliance deadlines and assist with resolving deficiencies.
  • Support public notifications. Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR), and program documentation, including Cross-Connection/Backflow Program, Lead & Copper, and Source Protection.
  • Coordinate with operations staff on compliance-related activities and assist with water quality inquiries.

All other duties as assigned.

Water Maintenance Technician II - Water Compliance Coordinator

  • Must perform all duties and fulfill all responsibilities of a Water Maintenance Technician I - Water Compliance Coordinator.
  • Coordinate with the Utah Division of Drinking Water during sanitary surveys and track follow-up items.
  • Oversee Risk & Resilience Plan and Emergency Plan.

All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be tactful in dealing with the public.
  • Must have the ability to maintain accurate records and ability to perform standard mathematical computations quickly and accurately.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to climb on ladders and into meter holes and boxes. Must have enough physical strength and agility to perform required work. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather. Must be able to lift heavy loads, bend, stoop, climb, sit, stand, grab, etc. Must be able to work in and around heavy traffic.
