AspectWatchJewelry Designer
Required CredentialsWatchmaking certifications, horology knowledgeJewelry design certifications, gemology
Work EnvironmentManufacturing, repair shops, luxury brandsDesign studios, boutiques, custom workshops
Industry UsageLuxury watch brands, horology firmsJewelry brands, fashion houses

While both watches and jewelry designers work with luxury accessories, watches focus on timepieces with technical craftsmanship, whereas jewelry designers create a variety of ornamental pieces. The roles overlap in design skills and industry settings, but watches emphasize horology and precision, while jewelry designers prioritize aesthetics and gemstone work.

What are watchmakers?

Watchmakers are skilled professionals who design, build, repair, and maintain watches and clocks. They use specialized tools to assemble intricate mechanical or electronic components, ensuring timepieces function accurately and reliably. Watchmakers may work for watch manufacturers, jewelry stores, or operate their own repair shops. Their expertise covers both traditional mechanical watches and modern electronic timepieces.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Watchmaker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Watchmaker, you need a solid understanding of horology, fine motor skills, and specialized training or certification from a recognized watchmaking school. Familiarity with precision tools, micromechanical systems, and diagnostic equipment is typically required. Attention to detail, patience, and problem-solving abilities distinguish top professionals in this field. These skills are vital for ensuring accurate repairs, maintenance, and the longevity of intricate timepieces.

What are some common challenges faced by watchmakers and how can they be addressed?

Watchmakers often encounter challenges such as handling intricate mechanical components, keeping up with evolving technology (like smartwatches), and sourcing rare or discontinued parts for vintage timepieces. Attention to detail and steady hands are essential to avoid damaging delicate mechanisms. Many watchmakers join professional associations or attend specialized workshops to stay updated on industry advances and to network for hard-to-find components. Collaboration with colleagues in repair shops or with manufacturers can also help overcome technical hurdles.

We are looking for someone who reflects our core values: Dedicated, Confident, Fun, Team Player, and Problem Solver.

This role blends front desk leadership, workplace presentation, and administrative coordination across multiple office locations. As an EOS company, Knight Watch values clarity, accountability, follow-through, and continuous improvement, and we are looking for a polished, highly organized professional who brings those qualities to every interaction.

This person will own our greeting desks, strengthen our brand presentation, and help create a workplace environment that is organized, professional, and ready for high-quality execution.

This position also serves as a central communication hub across our locations, helping keep teams connected and ensuring smooth, consistent operations throughout the organization.

We are seeking an exceptional Director of First Impressions for our Kalamazoo, MI location—someone who will help define how customers, guests, partners, and employees view Knight Watch from the very first moment.

Why You’ll Love Knight Watch, Inc.:

· Join a winning team built on our core values of being Dedicated, Confident, Fun, a Team Player, and a Problem Solver—where shared success and strong execution matter every day.

· Enjoy a strong benefits package with medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus a company match to your 401(k)—because investing in our people matters.

· Recharge and celebrate with seven paid holidays each year as part of a company that values balance, energy, and long-term success.

· Build your future with competitive pay and a personalized growth roadmap that rewards progress, learning, and achievement.

· Take the time you need with paid time off for vacation, personal days, and life’s important moments—because well-being matters.

· Stay connected with the option of a company phone or your own iPhone with monthly reimbursement, giving you flexibility that supports how you work best.

· Keep learning and growing with tuition reimbursement of up to $1,500 per semester as part of our investment in your development.

· Be part of a strong team culture built on connection, accountability, and shared success.

· Start with a strong onboarding process, a dedicated mentor, and hands-on training that prepares you to contribute from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

Front Desk & External Relations (Multi-Site)

· Be the welcoming face and voice of Knight Watch, creating a strong and lasting first impression for every visitor, customer, candidate, and guest who connects with our company.

· Take pride in leading the front desk at our Kalamazoo headquarters while helping maintain a consistent, professional presence across our other locations.

· Create lobby and meeting spaces that reflect the very best of Knight Watch—professional, organized, and prepared for high-quality execution.

· Support visitor access, conference room coordination, mail, shipping, and other key front desk needs with the understanding that every detail contributes to a smooth, professional operation.

· Work closely with Sales, IT, and Leadership to help deliver an in-office environment that is seamless, polished, and reflective of the high standard Knight Watch is known for.

Coordination, Communication & Execution

· Coordinate a polished and organized arrival process for guests, candidates, vendors, and new team members, including schedules, room readiness, name badges, and key logistics.

· Manage calendars, logistics, meeting details, and administrative coordination that keep leaders, teams, and visitors organized and set up for success.

· Coordinate meeting and visitor logistics to ensure every interaction is polished, responsive, and well executed.

· Support communication, recognition of moments, and thoughtful details that reinforce connection, culture, and a positive workplace atmosphere.

Events, Meetings & Workplace Support

· Coordinate daily lunch orders and meeting meals with consistency and attention to detail, ensuring they are handled smoothly and professionally.

· Help create memorable onsite and offsite events by coordinating catering, schedules, setup, cleanup, vendors, and thoughtful details that reflect the Knight Watch standard.

· Support celebrations, training sessions, town halls, and customer or partner events with energy and attention to detail, knowing every event influences how Knight Watch is perceived.

· Keep breakrooms, beverages, supplies, and snacks stocked and organized so shared spaces are ready, professional, and well maintained.

Office Operations & Multi-Site Support

· Take pride in creating guest-ready, organized, and polished office spaces across multiple locations, knowing that every detail reflects the Knight Watch standard of excellence.

· Help keep the organization running smoothly by supporting mail, deliveries, and shipping with care, responsiveness, and a commitment to strong day-to-day execution.

· Coordinate office materials, welcome items, event resources, and other key details that help create a seamless and well-run workplace.

· Support Sales and Leadership in ways that strengthen communication, coordination, and presentation—because everything you do helps shape how Knight Watch is perceived internally and externally.

What Success Looks Like in this Role:

· Every interaction leaves visitors with a strong impression that Knight Watch is a professional, polished, and first-class organization.

· Employees stay informed and supported because you bring consistency, responsiveness, and strong execution to the workplace each day.

· Leaders trust you because you consistently notice the details, anticipate needs, and understand that everything you do plays an important role in keeping the organization moving forward.

· The front desk reflects the very best of Knight Watch—organized, polished, professional, and a clear sign that excellence matters in every detail.

· Maintains a high standard of professionalism, urgency, and attention to detail in every interaction.

· Communicates clearly, responds promptly, and keeps others informed without needing constant direction.

· Looks for ways to improve processes, elevate execution, and make the team stronger every day.

· Brings consistency, reliability, and a positive attitude that others can count on under pressure.

Education & Experience:

· We welcome candidates with experience in hospitality, reception, executive support, office coordination, customer service, or other front-facing roles where professionalism and execution matter.

· Experience supporting office operations or multi-site communication is a strong advantage and can help you thrive in this role.
