What this job involves

JLL is seeking an experienced and licensed Wastewater Operator to support daily Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations and Maintenance at a premier pharmaceutical life sciences facility. This role demands technical expertise and unwavering commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will support all industrial and sanitary wastewater management for a world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing site to meet regulatory discharge standards, which include monitoring and administering treatment processes, performing routine testing, maintaining equipment, assisting with repairs, recommending process improvements and ensuring compliance with environmental permits and safety protocols. Diligent site-specific training will be provided to ensure support of successful execution of assigned tasks.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Operate wastewater treatment systems including biological and chemical treatment, filtration and disinfection processes to maintain 100% uptime
  • Monitor and adjust treatment parameters (pH, dissolved oxygen, suspended solids, BOD/COD) to maintain optimal performance
  • Conduct regular inspections of treatment equipment, pumps, valves, water intakes, piping, water storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, and collection systems, and perform minor repairs as needed
  • Proactively identify equipment deficiencies and material requirements, escalating concerns to Facility Management with detailed assessments
  • Respond to process upsets, alarms, and emergency situations to prevent discharge violations
  • Conduct comprehensive preventive maintenance tasks with minimal disruption to critical manufacturing operations
  • Document all operational activities, readings, and adjustments in daily logs and centralized CMMS platform to maintain meticulous documentation of all repairs, modifications and system changes for regulatory reporting and to assist with permit renewals, audits and inspections
  • Ensure compliance with facility environmental permits, local sewer authority requirements
  • Prepare work orders for servicing and repairs and arrange for and oversee major repairs by partnering with third party Vendors
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues, coordinating with Maintenance Teams as needed
  • Interpret and apply technical specifications from engineering drawings and understand laboratory tests and results to ensure all work meets regulatory standards and site-specific requirements
  • Uphold workspace organization and maintain strict adherence to all safety protocols including but not limited to lockout/tagout, confined space entry, chemical handling procedures, GMP guidelines, and site regulations without exception
  • Achieve timely completion of assignments according to defined SLA’s; subject to regular quality audits
  • Efficiently mobilize tools, equipment, and materials for each assignment
  • Maintain professional-grade tool inventory and request supplies as needed to ensure operational readiness
  • Develop and recommend process improvements to enhance preventive maintenance procedures and drive cost-savings and efficiencies
  • Consistently follow site-specific SOPs

  • Demonstrate exemplary adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and pharmaceutical manufacturing standards

  • Interact with client representatives in a professional manner, demonstrating strong communication skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude.

  • Participate in performance reviews and audits based on workmanship quality, safety, and compliance metrics.

  • Maintain required Training Contact Hours (TCH’s)

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Active Massachusetts Grade 1 Industrial (full status) Wastewater Operator License

  • Prior experience working in Wastewater Treatment Plant operation

  • Demonstrated familiarity with and ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs to wastewater treatment mechanical systems

  • Ability and knowledge in the use of all tools, equipment, and material used for repairs

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

  • Prior experience in GMP Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Environment

  • Ability to respond to emergency calls for on-site service

Work Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Estimated compensation for this position:

66,560.00 – 79,040.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
