Job Title:

Water and Wastewater Plant Operator

Location: Aberdeen, Md

Full-Time | Entry-Level

About the position:

The Water and Wastewater Plant Operator will assist in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This is an entry-level position designed to provide on-the-job training and prepare the candidate for certification as a licensed operator.  

This position does require that you obtain an MDE Certification within the first 5 years of employment.

Position requires working a rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and assist in the operation of water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Monitor plant equipment and systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Collect and analyze water samples for quality control.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Record operational data and prepare reports as required.
  • Follow safety protocols and comply with environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in water/wastewater operations or related fields is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Training and Advancement:

This position offers comprehensive training and the opportunity to obtain state certification as a Water/Wastewater Operator. Successful candidates may advance through the Career Progression upon completion of required training and certification.
