As a wastewater laboratory analyst, you collect samples of various materials and substances to help ensure proper quality control for wastewater systems. In this role, you test each sample to examine the effects of detected substances on the environment, monitor reports and gauges to check for any unexpected substances, and help create reports for relevant companies, city personnel, or government agencies. You also maintain lab equipment and follow all safety practices. Many wastewater laboratory analysts work for local or county governments, though you may find jobs with other employers and contractors as well.
