Job description

The Collections Manager contributes to AHF by optimizing the Housing Program's financial performance through managing rent collection and minimizing tenant unpaid rent.
The Collections Manager enhances the reputation of AHF by ensuring legal compliance, appropriate record keeping and efficient delinquency management.

To be successful as the Collections Manager, it is crucial to ensure that the AHF Core Values and Mission stay top of mind with all that you do.
At AHF, we are nimble and able to adapt in a dynamic environment to assist in providing the best experience for our clients and workplace for our employees. AHF has a collaborative organizational structure where staff are accountable to multiple leaders.
The Collections Manager will work as a part of a close-knit team to manage and be on top of rent collection, delinquencies and dispute resolution as following. Rent collection and processing: receiving payments, issuing receipts, and posting payments to the property management system. Delinquency management: identifying late payments, contacting tenants via phone, email, text or in person, and negotiate payment plans. Legal compliance & Notices: issuing formal legal notices, such as 3-day pay or quit notices, in compliance with California law. Record keeping: maintaining accurate, up to date tenant accounts and preparing reports for management regarding outstanding balances. Communication and dispute resolution: answering tenant questions regarding rent, charges, and lease terms with professionalism. Administrative support: assisting with move-ins/move outs, enforcing lease terms and sometimes assisting with maintenance. You will use strong negotiating skills for handling difficult situations. Applying high attention to detail when handling, tracking, and reporting financial data is a key to your success in this role.
To be successful in this role you need to have knowledge of California housing laws, California's Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and state specific landlord laws. Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio and MS Excel) are essential in this role.
Compensation: $75,000-85,000
