Job description

Landfill Operations Manager
The Dalles, OR (Wasco County Landfill)
Full-Time | Monday-Friday | On-site
$85K-$95K + 20% Bonus (cash + equity)

We're looking for a hands-on leader to run day-to-day operations at our Wasco County Landfill. This isn't a desk job. You'll be out on the site, leading from the front, developing your team, and making sure the operation runs safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily landfill operations, including waste placement, sequencing, and cover
  • Manage crews, schedules, and equipment utilization
  • Drive a strong safety culture and run regular safety meetings
  • Coach and develop operators and frontline employees
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Stay hands-on - operate equipment when needed

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of landfill operations experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of working face operations
  • Experience with heavy equipment (operation and maintenance)
  • Proven leader who develops people, not just manages tasks
  • Able to make decisions and solve problems in a fast-moving environment
  • Background in heavy construction may be considered if closely aligned
