Job description

Position Summary

The Warehouse Utility Worker supports daily warehouse operations through light maintenance, cleaning, painting, and general labor tasks. This role helps maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse by assisting with facility upkeep and operational support tasks throughout the building.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Warehouse Cleaning & Housekeeping
  • Clean and maintain warehouse floors, aisles, docks, breakrooms, and restrooms.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and remove debris from work and storage areas.
  • Police the yard by picking up trash and debris; identify and report any damage or maintenance needs.
  • Empty trash, cardboard, and recycling containers throughout the warehouse.
  • Clean racking, safety barriers, signage, fans, and equipment exteriors as needed.
  • Light Maintenance
  • Perform minor building repairs such as tightening hardware, replacing ceiling tiles, replacing filters, replacing light bulbs, fixing basic fixtures, etc.
  • Test emergency lighting routinely.
  • Inspect and test eye wash and safety showers routinely.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers and fire system panels.
  • Complete weekly test on fire pump.
  • Inspect air compressor routinely and perform minor repairs / preventive maintenance.
  • Inspect freezer controls routinely and report any alarms or repairs needed.
  • Assist maintenance technicians during repairs or preventive work.
  • Inspect heaters and log temperatures daily.
  • Clean and maintain forklift attachments. Drum pickers, man basket, etc.
  • Install, inspect, and maintain warehouse racking.
  • Painting & Surface Preparation
  • Prep warehouse surfaces by sanding, taping, cleaning, or scraping.
  • Perform lightduty painting on walls, safety rails, bollards, and marking posts.
  • Help maintain striping or paint markings for aisles, staging lanes, and hazard areas.
  • Material Handling (non-shipping related) & Warehouse Support

  • Move supplies, pallets, and equipment using pallet jacks or forklifts.
  • Assist in staging materials for maintenance or facility projects.
  • Help load/unload and receive supplies or equipment when required.
  • Organize utility rooms, janitorial supplies, consumable items, and maintenance inventory.
  • Dock & Facility Support
  • Sweep and maintain dock areas, including ramps and overhead door areas.
  • Clear debris or obstructions from staging zones and shipping/receiving lanes.
  • Clean dock levelers, bumpers, and surrounding areas.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow warehouse safety rules and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Report hazards, damage, leaks, or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist with spill cleanup and basic containment procedures as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain clear fire exits, emergency routes, and safety zones.
  • General Labor
  • Support warehouse projects such as equipment moves, or layout changes.
  • Assist during inventory counts or reorganizations.
  • Perform outside tasks like sweeping docks or light landscaping.
  • Exhibits and practices the Third Coast Way fundamental behaviors.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies:
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to identify and report hazards, damage, or needed repairs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work safely around forklifts, conveyors, and warehouse equipment.
  • Good timeโ€‘management; able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills with supervisors and team members.

  • Work Experience:
  • Experience in warehouse, distribution, or facility support roles.
  • Forklift experience
  • Scissor lift experience
  • Basic painting or maintenance experience.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb ladders throughout the shift.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Capable of handling lighttomoderate physical labor.
  • Comfortable working in hot, cold, or dusty warehouse conditions.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights or on elevated platforms when needed.
