Job description

Stockroom/Shipping Clerk

 

Position Summary: Manage receipt of finished goods from Operations into Finished Goods Inventory and shipment of product to customers. 

Experience with warehouse management software required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive finished goods from Operations:  o package into product box or clam shell as appropriate  o store in designated location o transact in MRP system into Finished Goods (FG) inventory location as available to sell. 
  • Move goods from FG inventory and prepare for shipment o review daily the customer sales orders available to ship in MRP o pick available product from FG inventory  o transact in MRP system out of Finished Goods inventory  o package in appropriate final shipping container (box, Gaylord, etc) o prepare shipper documentation (label, pack list, etc) using Shipper system
  • Schedule large shipments and plan logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items and staff on hand to manage the shipments.
  • Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers
  • Handle issues arising in shipping or inventory handling
  • Build boxes for packaging
  • Trouble shoot shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to resolve them
  • Maintain the company stockroom through organizing, cleaning and cataloging items on a regular basis Competencies:  To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:

  • Education/Experience:  High School diploma, GED, or equivalent. Experience working in a shipping or receiving department. Experience operating heavy machinery (forklift, etc)
  • Language Ability:  Read, analyze and interpret shipping documents. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.
  • Mathematical Ability: Must be able to conduct basic mathematical problems including calculating proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, individuals must have strong computer related skills including familiarization with spreadsheet, word processing, and MRP/ERP software. Experience with warehouse management software required
