Job description

FMS Aerospace is seeking a highly organized and detailoriented full-time Shipping & Receiving Specialist to join our Huntsville team. The Shipping & Receiving (S&R) Specialist is responsible for accurate receipt, inspection, documentation, storage, packaging, and shipment of aerospace materials, components, and equipment. This position supports manufacturing, engineering, and program operations by maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring compliance with customer, company, regulatory, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in handling of controlled aerospace products and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving

  • Receive incoming materials, hardware, tooling, and supplies.
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
  • Inspect incoming items for quantity, condition, and identification requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance for receiving inspections, certifications, and nonconforming material processing.
  • Process receipts and inventory transactions in the company's ERP system.
  • Maintain traceability records and required documentation.

Shipping

  • Prepare domestic and international shipments in accordance with customer and carrier requirements.
  • Package materials to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, export documentation, and other required shipping records.
  • Coordinate shipments through approved carriers and freight providers.
  • Verify shipment accuracy prior to release.

Inventory and Warehouse Operations

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and stock locations.
  • Perform cycle counts and support physical inventory activities.
  • Store material in accordance with company procedures and environmental requirements.
  • Assist with inventory discrepancies and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper identification and traceability of aerospace parts and materials.

Compliance and Quality

  • Follow AS9100, ISO 9001, customer, and company quality requirements.
  • Support government and customer audits as required.
  • Ensure compliance with export control regulations, including ITAR and EAR, when applicable.
  • Maintain records in accordance with company retention policies.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and warehouse procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of shipping, receiving, inventory control, or warehouse experience
  • Experience using an ERP system (such as Unanet, Deltek Costpoint, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems)
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) Security Clearance
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in aviation airframe modifications and/or the aerospace industry
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or government contracting environments

Working Conditions
