Job description

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Shipper Receiver to join our growing team.

Shipper & Receiver

Responsible for operating propane and electric forklift vehicles ("hi-lo") to transport material throughout the warehouse and production areas. The Forklift Operator also assists in the loading and unloading of product onto semi-trucks.  

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Follow all safety rules and instructions while operating hi-lo
  2. Perform start of shift preventative maintenance inspection on hi-lo
  3. Operate hi-lo throughout warehouse and production area to move raw and finished product to designated areas
  4. Use utility knife to assist in unpackaging of raw materials and product
  5. Lift heavy product (50 plus lbs.) multiple times per shift; perform and assist in team lift when product exceeds 50 lbs.
  6. Perform visual inspections of material prior to loading into semi-trucks and box trucks
  7. Check shipping label for correct customer name, size, style and handing material prior to loading into trucks
  8. Load semi-trucks and box trucks with required finished product
  9. Assist in staging inventory and raw material for next day's production

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. 

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Minimum of a high school education and one year of factory-related experience in shipping and receiving or forklift operation.
  2. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
  3. Licensed forklift truck operator.
