Job description

Title: Warehouse Supervisor  

 The Role: 

Warehouse Supervisor leads warehouse operations and team performance to ensure safe, accurate, and timely material flow. The Supervisor oversees the work of Warehouse team members including: receiving and inspecting in-bound trucks, store pallets, organize the warehouse, organize the storage coolers, stage ingredients for the production team, and load trailers for shipment. Your work will ensure that materials are received, stored, rotated, pulled, and shipped in a safe manner. You will operate pump jacks, electric jacks, forklifts, and non-CDL license requiring trucks. You will support the warehouse Level 1 and Level 2 team members as needed. You will participate in daily and less than daily warehouse cleaning activities. The role will be the owner of all warehouse documentation. You will follow quality and safety standards. You will also coordinate with team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient movement of ingredients, packaging, and production materials to different departments. In short, you will be responsible for warehouse organization, documentation, and item movement. Working quickly and accurately while being safe.  

What You’ll Do:     

  • Team Leadership 

  • Training and onboarding of new team members. 

  • Ensure that housekeeping in the warehouse gets performed and documented daily. 

  • Treat all internal and external stakeholders with a service mindset; communicate with respect and kindness 

  • Manage timeline expectations within and across teams, deliver on our responsibilities accordingly 

  • Recognize all team members across the organization are working toward common goals 

  • Adapt to support the needs of the team in roles that may not fall under our primary job description 

  • Embrace CAVA's view of diversity as a crucial element of the organization and not just a buzzword 

  • Actively contribute to your department in order to complete tasks and meet company goals 

  • Operational Oversight 

  • Ultimate oversight and responsibility for all tasks that relate to the warehouse, and exterior of the warehouse. 

  • Assist with the transfer raw materials to the staging area for batching each process.  

  • Manage the flow in the raw materials to finish goods areas (By stacking bins, organizing, and making sure that areas are safe for pedestrian travel) 

  • Perform daily inspections of temperature in FG and RM coolers and document. 

  • Operate forklift, pump jacks and electric jacks, in a safe manner. As well as completing a daily checklist before using the Forklift. 

  • Complete weekly check on the electric jacks' batteries, in a safe and proper manner.  

  • Perform computer work/data entry (Document, scan, and print labels). 

  • Compliance & Documentation  

  • Follow all food safety, employee safety, and all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Procedures). 

  • Ensure all inbound loads get documented accurately and inspected. Check thoroughly, to make sure all inbounds data matches our own for what we are receiving. 

  • Ensure all outbound loads get confirmed and documented properly. Checking that the outbound loads are matching with the outbound data. 

  • Abide by policies and procedures that support the service mindset 

 

  • Cross-functional Coordination  

  • Assist the prep team with raw materials set up for them to open and will help organize and put back in their respective areas of storage. 

  • Collaborate with the Logistics Manager to coordinate the pick-up of raw material to various locations from time to time or when needed. 

  • Work requires constant communication with the prep team lead, Inventory and Procurement Coordinator, and Logistics Manager to ensure timely and efficient work around the warehouse. 

  • Support the Inventory and Procurement Coordinator and Manager when needed for counts for inventory level purposes. 

  • Continuous Improvement 

  • Ensure all pallets in the warehouse and coolers are labelled accordingly and all raw materials have the correct dates and matching manufacturing data. 

  • Sort through partial units received on our inbound loads for our CPG and Bulk products, and making sure to case them, and label them accordingly, to eliminate waste. 

  • Manage timeline expectations within and across teams, deliver on our responsibilities accordingly 

 

The Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years warehouse experience, including team leadership responsibilities 

  • Experience in food manufacturing or cold-chain environments preferred 

  • You must be able to operate a Forklift and electric jacks. 

  • Demonstrate proper clock management and maintain strong attendance. 

  • Ability to read and follow instructions and procedures to ensure tasks are done properly. 

  • Good verbal communication skills. 

  • Required to work efficiently, with alacrity, keeping safety a priority. 

  • Experience using smart phones, tablets, computers, and email. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills  

  • Proficiency in and Microsoft Office;  

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus 

 

Physical Requirements:   

  • Physical dexterity, ability to lift up to 55 lbs. and push/pull rolling carts and containers with up to 550 lbs of product.  

  • The ability to work in varied environmental conditions (dry, cold)   

  • The ability to stand and work on feet for 8 to 10 up to 3 hours at a time   

  • Must be able to identify, assess and observe detail  

  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively.  

  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend and twist 

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner 

  • Ability to maintain stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment 

  • Must be able to identify, analyze and assess details 

  • For certain positions, must be able to occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds 

  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively 

  • Constantly positions self and move about to support ordinary restaurant or food production support or office operations, as applicable 

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
