Job description

Alconex Specialty Products is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing team. This is a critical role designed for a leader who can balance the "big picture" of production management with the "boots-on-the-ground" reality of a busy plant floor. Your mission is simple but vital: ensure our high-quality products are made on time, every time, while mentoring a top-tier crew and finding ways to make our processes even better.

What You’ll Do

As a Production Supervisor, you will lead a dedicated shift of operators (including Conform and Wrap operators) and floor assistants. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Team Leadership: Directing, training, and mentoring your team. You’ll be instrumental in hiring, performance reviews, and fostering a positive, constructive work culture.
  • Production Oversight: Managing machine capacity to 90%+ efficiency, ensuring all jobs meet strict customer specifications and delivery deadlines.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement: Partnering with Quality Engineers to isolate non-conforming products and implementing creative strategies to reduce scrap and production errors.
  • Safety & Logistics: Maintaining a safe environment, coordinating maintenance repairs, and overseeing the safe operation of forklifts.
  • Data Management: Monitoring labor costs, tracking production rates, and managing shift documentation (payroll hours, accident reports, and scrap logs).

What You Bring to the Table

  • Experience: Proven expertise in personnel supervision and manufacturing operations.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (minimum 1 year) and the ability to read hand micrometers.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written English skills are required to coordinate with management and lead your team effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to stay calm and creative under pressure and resolve production issues as they arise.
  • Physical Readiness: Capability to navigate a warehouse environment, including sitting, climbing, bending, and reaching.
  • Credentials: A valid Driver’s License and Forklift Certification (or ability to pass Alconex certification). First Aid training is a plus.

Company Description

Alconex Specialty Products, Inc. was founded in 1987 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, beginning as a small aluminum magnet wire supplier serving the dry-type transformer industry. Over the years, the company has expanded its capabilities, including copper magnet wire product development, and internal insulation fabrication through its sister company Pro-Slitters, Inc. in 2007. Alconex has also innovated by developing performance-enhancing electrical insulation products like ALCONEX GOLD® in 2010 for dry-type transformers and motors and PF-8 in 2019 for fluid-filled power and distribution applications.
In 2017, Alconex opened a 100,000-square-foot facility—now its global headquarters—housing extensive manufacturing lines for magnet wire, extrusions, buss bar, and tubing products. Today, Alconex is a leading U.S.-based supplier across dry-type and fluid-filled transformers, motors, generators, and separators, known worldwide for high-quality products, customer-focused solutions, and ongoing innovation.
In 2026, Alconex will finish a 40,000-square-foot facility expansion project that will lead a charge for continued growth and expansion of the company, continuing to employ the citizens of Fort Wayne, Indiana and the surrounding communities.
