Job description

ASSISTANT WAREHOUSE MANAGER

This position will report directly to the Warehouse Manager in our Brantford, ON location.

General Scope Of Position

Will assist with the operation of approx 30,000 foot warehouse including receiving, stocking, processing, distribution of goods and supervision of staff. In the event that the Manager is out, the Assistant Manager will take on his/her responsibilities.

Key Components of Position

Below are the key components of the position, but does not constitute

Receive, inspect, and store all incoming stock

Maintain a large inventory including stock levels and periodic inventory counts

Ensure orders are fulfilled and shipped in a timely fashion

Follow all company protocols and procedures

Oversee supervision of warehouse staff under guidance of warehouse manager

Obtain comparative freight quotes from vendors

Possess basic computer skills with the ability to use typical office programs

Utilize computer-based storeroom operations program

Possess a basic knowledge of bar-coding procedures

Operate forklift and other warehouse lifts

Practice safe warehouse procedures, identify potential hazards, and recommend improvements to the Health & Safety Committee

Maintain warehouse in a neat, orderly, and efficient manner

Act as Warehouse Manager in his/her absence

Perform other related tasks as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

General knowledge of warehouse and inventory practices; ability to count and inspect goods accurately and thoroughly; ability to maintain financial records; ability to operate forklift and other warehouse equipment, computer knowledge as it pertains to inventory, receiving, and distribution; ability to handle and oversee multiple tasks effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff; ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma, or equivalent, minimum 5 years warehouse experience. Graduate of a Supply Chain Warehousing Certification would be considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
