Job description

Job Overview:

As directed, the Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.  

Work involves most of the following: verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.  This worker may operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience supporting warehousing operations. 
  • Experience communicating effectively with coworkers and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field a plus.
  • Experience with Department of the Navy systems and their associated warehousing needs, ensuring efficient and compliant operations. 
  • Certification in logistics or warehouse management (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional, Certified Logistics Manager), a plus.
  • Experience working with government contracts in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with advanced inventory control techniques and lean warehouse methodologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, order picking, and inventory control to meet productivity and accuracy targets.
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements and interpret relevant government regulations to maintain operational integrity.
  • Coordinating with customs and logistics partners to facilitate timely and compliant shipments.
