 Warehouse Manager
Position Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day warehouse responsibilities. This position is also responsible for continuous improvement, maintaining an efficient warehouse, developing, following and training staff on lean processes.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee all warehousing functions, including planning and monitoring inbound and outgoing deliveries.
• Manage stock control and reconcile with WMS. Use software to track, check, prioritize and route orders.
• Maintain items record, document necessary information and utilize reports to project warehouse status. Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided. Report to management on activities and issues.
• Supervise and lead a team of warehouse employees. Communicate job expectations and coach employees, provide training and development for warehouse team.
• Write performance appraisals for assigned staff members as well as administer corrective action as needed.
• Determine staffing levels and assign workload.
• Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization.
• Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employee’s performance. Develops and counsel employee performance as needed.
• Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal policies and procedures.
• Act as primary contact for customers, suppliers and transportation companies to answer questions or solve problems.
• Control budget of the warehouse and partner with finance department.
• Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative solutions.
• Confer and coordinate activities with other department managers to optimize processes.
• Recommend updates to existing processes to reduce waste and increase quantity. Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements.
• Understanding of warehousing metrics related to cost, service, and quality. Create work plans and develop strategies/projects to improve performance across all metrics.
• Maintain standards of health, safety and security.
 
Skills and Specifications:
• 5+ years warehouse management experience, with production or distribution industry knowledge; preferably for a rapid growth warehousing operation.
• Must have demonstrated 5+ years of experience managing and developing team members.
• PC skills including expert user of WMS, strong knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and intermediate MS Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Demonstrated experience identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities.
• Must be results-driven and have demonstrated understanding of developing and managing metrics.
 
Physical Requirements, with or without accommodation:
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environment
