Shipping & Packaging Assistant - The Olive Press
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the Shipping & Packaging Assistant performs hands-on warehouse, order fulfillment, shipping, and logistics functions.  This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently packing and shipping domestic customer orders, assisting with inventory management, coordinating product transfers, and supporting daily warehouse operations.
The successful candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change throughout the day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shipping & Order Fulfillment
  • Pick, pack, label, and prepare domestic customer orders for shipment, including Club, e-commerce, tasting room, wholesale/corporate, and other orders.
  • Process shipments through UPS and other applicable shipping systems.
  • Verify order contents, quantities, shipping information, and packaging prior to shipment.
  • Package products appropriately to minimize damage during transit. 
  • Assist with shipping issues, order discrepancies, and returns.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient packing and shipping area.
Customer & Internal Support
  • Communicate with the Club, Tasting Room, Warehouse, and other internal teams regarding orders and fulfillment needs.
  • Provide occasional customer support by phone and email regarding orders, shipping questions, general inquiries, and returns.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, vendors, and delivery personnel.
  • Escalate customer or order issues to the appropriate manager.
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
  • Assist with inventory counts of products, packaging materials, raw materials, and shipping supplies.
  • Monitory inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Receive, organize, stage, and stock incoming products and supplies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse, packing, and storage areas.
  • Safely handle olive oil, balsamic products, merchandise, packaging materials, and other warehouse items.
Transfers & Logistics
  • Coordinate product and supply transfers between the warehouse and tasting rooms.  Asist with receiving, pulling, staging, delivering, and documenting transfers.
  • Verify products and quantities associated with transfers and deliveries.
  • Operate company vehicles as required and authorized for business purposes.
Returns & Documentation
  • Receive and accurately document customer returns.
  • Inspect returned products and communicate discrepancies or damaged goods to the appropriate manager.
  • Assist with return processing and maintaining accurate records.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Previous shipping, warehouse, order fulfillment, or logistics experience preferred; 1-2 years of experience is a plus.
  • Experience with UPS shipping systems preferred.
  • Experience with inventory, order management, or warehouse systems is a plus.
  • Forklift experience and/or certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail , organization, and time management skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and dependable work habits.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing business needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work in a warehouse environment with fluctuating temperatures and moderate to high noise levels.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, squat, and maneuver throughout the warehouse.

  • Frequently use a step ladder to reach items above and below shoulder level.

  • Safely handle and move cases of olive oil, balsamic products, merchandise, packaging materials, and other warehouse items.
  • Perform repetitive packing, lifting, carrying, reaching, and material handling activities throughout the workday.

PAY RANGE: $17.00 - $19.00/hour   (Depending on Experience)
