Rate of Pay: $18.80 - $21.44

This position works under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Foreperson and/or the Warehouse Manager. Daily responsibilities include receiving, inspecting, recording, cataloging, stocking, locating and issuing warehouse inventory.  The employee picks up and/or delivers materials and maintains the warehouse yard area as needed.
 
  • Physically receives and enters all incoming supplies. Properly enters all incoming supplies and materials on computer-based inventory application.  Related activities include: the verification of purchase order(s), quantities, correct manufacturer, vendor, and date received.
  • Documents and reports any changes from original order to the foreperson. Documents, records, and enters quantities received on incomplete purchase orders into computer-based inventory applications, noting date received. Assigns warehouse location to materials on computer-based inventory application and generates confirmation report of materials received.
  • Transmits above receiving information to city/BLW main frame computer via specialized computer program and verify same. Ensures identification tags and labels have been recorded and documented.
  • Ensures that receiving information and supporting documentation, including purchase orders, packing list and receiving reports and records are sent to management for vendor payment.
  • Responsible for documenting defective materials received and/or feedback from line crews. Also responsible for rejecting deliveries of incorrect materials. 
  • Arranges for notification and delivery of non-stock items to the requesting department and assures all paperwork is properly recorded.
  • Prepares and locates materials to be picked up and moves to staging area as needed.
  • Reviews and verifies all job order paperwork for accuracy.  Informs Foreperson of any deletions, additions, or changes made on the job order or omissions that may have occurred. Removes issued material from inventory on computer and mainframe computer.
  • Responsible for monitoring the accuracy of all information on items being processed.
  • Updates and maintains vendor file to assure that all purchase orders are reconciled and placed in the correct vendor’s file.
  • Checks all equipment, i.e., label makers and printers, tags and labels, scanners and batteries, radios, digital counting and sampling scales, electronic cable and wire meters for any malfunctions.
  • Computes square footage, cubic areas, circle area, radius, and diameters for the purpose of calculating storage areas, pallet and racking capacities, quantities needed for maintenance, and to determine aisle widths and storage capacities of various storage containments.
  • Provides electrical engineering and other departments with information concerning current inventory such as quantities on hand of various items, status and delivery times of special-order items, and the locations and availability of same.
  • Responds to requests for warehouse materials during events such as power outages, water main breaks. Must be placed on mandatory “on-call” rotation for warehouse and respond to callouts as required.
  • Assist Warehouse Manager, Foreperson, and other personnel during annual inventory audit.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and reports any warehouse equipment malfunctions to Foreperson.
  • Assists in checking the following warehouse system for proper operation: security cameras, security system for doors, integrity of fencing, fire alarm system, and replace security system batteries as needed.
  • May need to cover some foreperson functions as needed during absences and or unscheduled events such as power outages and water main breaks.
  • Performs other related functions as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • High school graduate or GED with skill in reading, writing and business mathematics. Ability to use computer inventory applications.
  • Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory 7-year driving history to include no DUIs in the last five years.
  • A minimum of three years of warehouse experience.  Must be familiar with inventory applications, and computerized inventory control and material management procedures. Experience in commercial electrical and/or water parts are preferred.
  • Ability and skill in making mathematical calculations, measurements and estimations.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, specifications, job prints and related manuals.
  • Must obtain mobile crane operations qualifications certification.
  • Skill and ability to operate rough-terrain and electric lift trucks, and overhead cranes and gantries.
  • Good communications skills to include ability to speak English clearly and interact with the city/BLW staff and public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must be in excellent physical condition. Ability to lift heavy loads (75 to 100 lbs.) with frequent lifting of 25 to 50 lbs., frequent lifting bending, stooping and carrying.  Must be able to ascend and descend from ladders and vehicles.  Must be able to place and retrieve materials and supplies at heights 5-14 feet, with or without the aid of automated devices.
