Description

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records for customer-owned products within the warehouse. This role ensures inventory accuracy through cycle counting, transaction audits, discrepancy investigations, and reconciliation of inventory movements. The Inventory Control Specialist partners with Warehouse Operations, Purchasing, Scheduling, and customers to ensure inventory integrity and exceptional service.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Maintain accurate inventory records for customer-owned inventory. 

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts. 

Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine root causes. 

Reconcile inventory variances promptly and accurately. 

Monitor receiving, put-away, transfers, picks, shipments, and returns to ensure inventory accuracy. 

Audit inventory transactions within the Warehouse Management System (WMS). 

Research customer inventory concerns and resolve discrepancies. 

Prepare inventory reports for internal teams and customers. 

Support customer inventory audits and physical inventories. 

Ensure products are properly identified, labeled, and stored according to customer requirements. 

Monitor inventory aging, damaged product, and non-conforming inventory. 

Coordinate inventory adjustments with management approval. 

Maintain lot number, serial number, and location accuracy as required. 

Communicate inventory issues and resolutions to warehouse leadership and procurement.

Assist in developing and improving inventory control processes. 

Follow all company safety policies and warehouse procedures.

Requirements

  Education and experience

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Associate degree preferred. 
  • 2-5 years of inventory control experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or 3PL environment. 
  • Experience managing customer-owned inventory preferred. 
  • Experience using a Warehouse Management System (Scan Force, Sage 100, SAP, Red Prairie)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple customer accounts and deadlines.   
  • Certified Forklift and Scissor Lift Experience

  • WMS experience (SAP, Oracle, Sage100) 
  • Microsoft Excel 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish read and write)

Work Environment & Physical demands 

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the warehouse for extended periods 8-10 hours.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally. 
  • Ability to bend, reach, climb, and perform frequent warehouse inspections.
