Job description

SUMMARY 

An Inventory Specialist position is available at Jay Group in Houston, TX.  They are is responsible for managing and overseeing the inventory process within the company.  The role ensures inventory levels within the warehouse are accurate, products are tracked efficiently, and stock is maintained at optimal levels. Inventory Specialists manage and organize regular physical counts.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Oversee inventory transactions such as receipts, adjustments, and movements. 
  2. Help coordinate and maintain proper storage of inventory to prevent damage, loss, or deterioration. 
  3. Analyze inventory data to identify trends, stock discrepancies, and potential issues. 
  4. Generate and review inventory reports, and provides insights on inventory performance. 
  5. Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure compliance with company policies. 
  6. Develop and implement processes for better inventory accuracy and efficiency. 
  7. Completes daily cycle count tasks generated by the system in our clean warehouse. 
  8. Complete special count requests as needed. 
  9. Upon completion of counts, determine if there are discrepancies and reconcile the differences as needed including sku changes. 
  10. Verify lots/expiration information and pull products from active picking locations as needed. 
  11. Report large/unusual discrepancies to the IC team for further resolution via email providing supporting documentation regarding the issue(s) found. 
  12. Participate in physical inventories. Inventories may take place after scheduled hours including weekends. 
  13. Operates warehouse equipment (cherry picker, forklifts) to perform daily duties. 
  14. You will be required to work overtime as business needs require, especially during our peak season in November and December. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

  1. High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 
  2. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a higher-level inventory control position required. 
  3. Forklift or warehouse equipment certification is preferred.   
  4. Experience in a similar role within a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment a plus. 
  5. Strong typing skills with a focus on data accuracy and attention to detail while entering data. 
  6. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel) a plus.
