JOB LOCATION - Wilkes-Barre General Hospital

JOB SHIFT - Full Time Days

POSITION PURPOSE

The Manager of Central Supply is responsible for organizing, operating, and supervising the material distribution area, and all its related functions and systems, in an efficient and effective manner.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating central receiving, bulk stores, processed stores, inventory control.
  • Selecting, developing, supervising, and evaluating department staff;
  • preparing departmental records, reports (financial, personnel); maintaining current written policies and procedures;
  • coordinating with user departments the storage and delivery of supplies and equipment on a scheduled basis;
  • operating an exchange cart system for supplies; maintaining accurate records (inventory);
  • working with purchasing to maintain adequate levels of supplies to meet patient care demands;
  • Establishing and maintaining quality control standards in the department.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of supply/equipment products as needed; controlling patient supply charges and seeing to their proper processing and related functions.
  • The manager may assist or fill in during the absence of the material processing manager.

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent and a minimum of two years of college are required.
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred. Related experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
  • Certification in materials management by a professional society is highly desirable.

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes:

  • Four or more years' experience as a supervisor or manager, with progressive responsibility, in a healthcare facility supply area is required.
  • A thorough knowledge of warehousing, inventory control, and modern, healthcare-related material-handling systems is required.
