Job description

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and daily control of inventory across all material storage and point-of-use locations within the manufacturing operation. This role performs hands-on inventory transactions, cycle counts, supports discrepancy investigations, and material tracking to ensure system inventory accurately always reflects physical inventory.

Essential Duties

Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Perform daily inventory transactions in NetSuite, including receipts, transfers, issues, and adjustments.
  • Execute scheduled cycle counts and assist with physical inventories.
  • Supports investigation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Follows inventory control work instructions.

Material Handling & Storage

  • Completes and verify material identification, labeling, quantities, and storage locations.
  • Ensure materials are stored correctly and safely according to work instructions.
  • Ensures kitting, staging, and line-side delivery as required.
  • In charge of material movement between receiving, storage, and production areas.
  • Identify and escalate damaged, nonconforming, or misplaced material.

Receiving Support

  • Assist with matching received material to purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Help if applicable with inspection and disposition of received materials with Quality or Engineering.
  • Ensure timely put-away of received materials.

Purchasing (Manufacturing consumables, Safety supplies, Cleaning supplies, etc.)

  • Source and purchase consumable materials required for manufacturing and facility operations.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders in NETSUITE system.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels to prevent production disruptions.
  • Expedite critical orders when shortages or delays occur.

Systems & Documentation

  • Enters accurate item, lot, and location data in NetSuite.
  • Support item master accuracy by identifying incorrect descriptions or stocking errors.
  • Follow standardized work instructions and inventory control procedures.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and material flow.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures related to material handling and warehouse operations.
  • Operate forklifts or material handling equipment safely (if certified).

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse and production operations.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational discipline.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory transaction controls.
  • Experience with manufacturing material flows and production support.
  • Computer saavy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems and reporting tools.
  • Ability to apply MSHA, OSHA and DOT standards including the following.
    • Defensive Driving
    • Forklift Operation
    • Load securements

Education/Experience

  • Associate's degree or similar.
  • Three to five years of experience in inventory control processes.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working in an office environment.
  • Ability to sit and type for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures including over 100 degrees and under 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, and lay prone for extended periods of time.
