Job Title: Warehouse Associate

Job Description

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for loading, unloading, receiving, sorting, staging, and transporting materials throughout the warehouse while supporting shipping, receiving, and production operations. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable working across multiple areas of the warehouse, and can balance both forklift operation and production support activities such as material preparation and cutting.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and verify incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Operate forklifts (including stand-up forklifts) to move, stage, and organize materials safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse.
  • Pick, pack, and process customer orders in alignment with order fulfillment and shipping requirements.
  • Cut flooring materials according to detailed order specifications using appropriate tools and measuring devices.
  • Assist in the production of floating floor systems and other light production tasks as needed.
  • Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are handled safely and placed in the correct locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support overall warehouse organization and cleanliness.
  • Handle materials using pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
  • Assist with deliveries as needed, including preparing orders and coordinating movement of materials.
  • Follow all safety procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and warehouse standards at all times.
  • Utilize proper bending, lifting, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing, dismounting, and three points of contact techniques to perform physical tasks safely.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings to stay aligned with operational goals and process improvements.
  • Adapt to changing business needs by supporting multiple functions, including shipping and receiving, inventory movement, and production support.
  • Work overtime when required to meet operational demands and customer commitments.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of previous warehouse and/or flooring experience.
  • Proven ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently, including stand-up forklifts.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving, including handling incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Strong material handling skills, including use of pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to perform order fulfillment tasks such as picking, packing, and staging orders.
  • Experience supporting production activities, including material preparation and cutting.
  • Knowledge of basic warehouse principles, processes, and best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple tasks.
  • Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time and complete scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and utilize proper physical techniques for lifting and material movement.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively within a small, close-knit team.

Work is hands-on and physically active, involving forklift operation, pallet jacks, material handling, cutting flooring materials, and supporting production of floating floor systems. The environment is fast-paced, with responsibilities spanning shipping and receiving, order fulfillment, inventory movement, and production support. Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements and to maintain an organized, efficient workspace while adapting to changing operational needs

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smithfield, RI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
