The role...

The Expo plays a key role in ensuring seamless communication between the kitchen and front-of-house teams. This position is responsible for managing the flow of food from the kitchen to guests, maintaining quality and presentation standards, coordinating food runners, and supporting an exceptional dining experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Main Duties

Guest Experience

  • Support the delivery of a consistently exceptional guest experience by ensuring food is delivered accurately, efficiently, and according to restaurant standards.
  • Maintain awareness of guest satisfaction and communicate any concerns to management promptly.
  • Assist guests when needed and direct questions or requests to the appropriate team member.
  • Uphold all health, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards.

Food Quality & Service Execution

  • Manage the pass and coordinate the timing and flow of food service between the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
  • Ensure all dishes are delivered to the correct table and seat position.
  • Inspect every plate before it leaves the kitchen to verify accuracy, presentation, portion consistency, and cleanliness.
  • Confirm steak temperatures, garnishes, sauces, side dishes, and accompanying service ware are accurate.
  • Ensure hot food is served hot and cold food is served cold.
  • Coordinate with chefs, managers, and food runners regarding modifications, allergies, refires, guest requests, and service timing.
  • Communicate delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies to management and culinary leadership.
  • Prepare and organize takeaway orders according to restaurant standards.

Operational Excellence

  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings and remain informed on menu changes, unavailable items, and daily restaurant updates.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, ingredients, allergens, preparation methods, and presentation standards.
  • Assist with inventory replenishment of plates, service ware, and other operational supplies throughout service.
  • Follow opening, mid-shift, and closing duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Complete cleaning and sanitation tasks in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Report breakage, maintenance concerns, and operational issues to management.
  • Support special events and restaurant initiatives as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as an Expo or in a high-volume restaurant environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations and food service standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and allergen awareness.
  • Basic familiarity with POS systems and kitchen ticket management preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the duration of a shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and push or pull items up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied schedules based on business needs.
