Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist - Operating Room
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center - Bethesda, MD

Walter Reed is one of the nation's premier military healthcare facilities, providing advanced care to active-duty service members, retirees, and their families.Overview
MDPerm is seeking a qualified Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist to support Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This position is based in the Operating Room and supports complex vascular, endovascular, and interventional procedures using advanced imaging and fluoroscopic technology. This is a mission-essential role supporting active-duty service members and their families.
Duties / Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and manage fluoroscopic and digital imaging equipment in the operating room
  • Assist physicians with vascular and endovascular procedures, including angiography, angioplasty, stenting, and related interventions
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and procedural setup
  • Support image-guided procedures and advanced imaging reconstruction
  • Monitor patient condition and ensure safety during procedures
  • Administer medications under physician supervision
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards and military healthcare protocols
  • Perform quality assurance and documentation of imaging and procedures
  • Provide training to clinical staff on imaging equipment and procedures
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including surgery, anesthesia, and radiology
  • May be required to support areas outside the operating room as needed
Schedule & Work Hours
  • Monday through Friday
  • 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (8.5-hour shift, including 30-minute unpaid meal break)
  • No weekends
  • On-call rotation 1:3- paid hourly to be on-call plus 1.5x if called in
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Minimum of 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience
  • AART Certification in Vascular-Interventional (VI)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and imaging standards
  • Proficiency in fluoroscopic and interventional imaging systems
  • Understanding of vascular anatomy and procedures
  • Ability to work independently in a high-acuity clinical environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
