Senior Paralegal Specialist

Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Senior Paralegal Specialist to join the Employment Legal group in Burbank, California. This role will serve as a flexible utility player providing broad paralegal support across the team, with the ability to shift priorities in a high-volume environment. This position is based at the Company's headquarters in Burbank, CA, with a requirement to be in the office four days a week (Monday through Thursday).

The successful candidate for this Senior Paralegal Specialist position will be an integral part of Disney’s Employment Law team, which handles employment matters from the routine to the revolutionary affecting the entire Disney enterprise – Disney Experiences; Disney Entertainment (including but not limited to Disney Live Action, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, FX, National Geographic and ABC Studios); and ESPN. As a Senior Paralegal Specialist, you will provide guidance and support on a variety of employment matters. You will work independently while also collaborating with attorneys and others on the Employment Legal team and with internal clients.

What You Will Do:

Your role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality as you:

  • Provide guidance and support on a wide variety of employment matters affecting the entire Disney enterprise.
  • Demonstrate expertise in understanding and utilizing document storage, tracking and reporting databases.
  • Draft summaries of investigation files.
  • Draft and issue legal holds.
  • Organize and maintain electronic file systems and records.
  • Gather and assemble information and documents for responses to administrative charges and mediation briefs.
  • Manage and respond to requests for employee and payroll records, including gathering, reviewing, and organizing responsive materials.
  • Assemble information and documentation for administrative charges, responses to demand letters and mediation briefs.
  • Handle contract drafting and administration in support of the Senior Manager, Contracts.
  • Draft, proofread, and adapt communications and work product to internal clients and external counterparties.
  • Exercise excellence in judgment and strategic thinking when communicating information to attorneys and business clients.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • 8+ years of paralegal experience in litigation and/or employment law in a reputable law firm or major in-house legal department.
  • Expertise in conducting legal and factual research.
  • Ability to work independently on sensitive, complex and/or high-risk matters.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high level of professionalism and courtesy.
  • Demonstrated expert ability to maintain utmost confidentiality when dealing with privileged, high-profile, and highly sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.
  • Experience in fact-finding, reporting, and document management.
  • Ability to communicate complex and sensitive subjects in an accessible way.
  • Ability to identify relevant information and exercise independent and excellent judgment in distilling and presenting information to attorneys and internal clients.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience managing corporate entities, preferably in high-volume environments.
  • Proficiency with legal entity management systems (e.g., CSC, Diligent Entities).
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or qualifications to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $115,500 to $154,800 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
