Position Summary...As a Staff Software Engineer on the Information Security Reliability Engineering & Operational Excellence team, you will lead the design and development of scalable, resilient platforms that improve the reliability and operational maturity of Walmart’s security services. You will build automation, observability, and AI-enabled solutions that reduce operational toil, accelerate incident response, and enhance system availability. Working across security, platform, and infrastructure engineering teams, you will drive technical excellence, influence architecture, mentor engineers, and implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to deliver secure, highly available enterprise platforms.

The Information Security Reliability Engineering & Operational Excellence team ensures the resilience, availability, and operational excellence of Walmart’s critical security platforms and services. Partnering with security, platform, and infrastructure engineering teams, we design, build, and operate highly reliable, observable, and automated systems at global scale. By applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, modern observability, intelligent automation, and AI-driven operational practices, we continuously improve service reliability, accelerate incident response, reduce operational toil, and enhance the resilience and stability of mission-critical security services.   • Design and build scalable, highly available platforms that improve the reliability of enterprise security services.
  • Develop automation and self-service solutions to reduce operational toil and improve engineering efficiency.
  • Implement observability, telemetry, and AI-enabled operational capabilities to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements for critical security platforms.
  • Design resilient cloud-native architectures using infrastructure-as-code and modern engineering practices.
  • Mentor engineers, review technical designs, and drive Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) standards across teams.
  • Partner with security, platform, and infrastructure teams to continuously improve service resilience and operational excellence.
  • Utilize cloud and container security best practices to safeguard infrastructure and applications.
What you'll bring:
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or DevOps.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C#, with experience building scalable distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP), Kubernetes, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Hands-on experience implementing observability solutions using tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience designing highly available, resilient systems and driving incident management, root cause analysis, and operational excellence.
  • Experience building automation and AI-enabled engineering workflows to improve reliability and reduce operational toil.
