Job description

Safety And Security Coordinator F.L.S.A. Exempt

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Operations

Terms Of Employment: Full-time, 12-month employee

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, emergency management, public administration, education, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in school safety, law enforcement, emergency management, military, education, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of school safety best practices, emergency operations planning, incident command systems (ICS), and security technologies. Background of training and experience in the following areas is preferred: emergency response, security, or supervision. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Must have ability to lift 70 lbs to shoulder height occasionally, ability to climb stairs on a regular basis, and ability to watch camera monitors daily.

Additional Responsibilities:

Conduct routine safety and security inspections of district facilities. Coordinate visitor management procedures and building access protocols. Maintain required safety documentation and reports. Assist with safety-related grants and compliance reporting. Make recommendations regarding district safety improvements, equipment, and procedures. Participate on district threat assessment and crisis response teams. Maintain confidentiality regarding investigations and security information.

Other Performance Responsibilities:

Follows Board policies, administrative procedures, and applicable state and federal laws. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Attends required meetings and professional development. Works flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs as needed. Maintains confidentiality regarding personnel, students, investigations, and security matters. Demonstrates professionalism and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, law enforcement, and community partners. Prepares reports and maintains records as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Operations.
