PURPOSE
The primary purpose of this position is to screen and provide appropriate access to high-school campus buildings. Individuals will be responsible for supporting safety and security of students and staff within each building. This position will greet visitors upon arrival, supervise in hallways, lunchroom, and various other campus locations. The Aide will help support safety and security throughout the building by allowing and monitoring visitors to the building and controlling access points. This position will also help assist in managing/monitoring behaviors in the common areas. This position is a district wide position and may be required at other locations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Navigate, use, and observe security camera system.
  • Monitor various campus locations and security access, admittance and removal if needed.
  • Greet all visitors that enter the building, as well as students and buses before and after school.
  • Assist administrators and teachers with students in the hallways during passing time.
  • Assist in supervision of hallways and commons, escorting students as needed.
  • Reinforce concepts/skills, and assist with discipline.
  • Assist the teachers in supervising students in settings such as hallways, lunchroom supervision, and bus arrival/dismissal.
  • Will oversee and monitor Open-gate weapons detection system.

Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Director of Safety and Security
Supervises: None
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Highschool Diploma or equivalent; Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is required; Ability to walk long distances; Ability to watch video camera footage for long periods of time; Positive and appropriate communication skills.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree; Prior experience with security camera and entry systems.
Ideal candidate will have a professional and friendly demeanor with a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment.
