Job description

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not directly manage employees or supervise a team.

Position Summary Merchandisers are responsible for promoting the sale of live plants by creating and maintaining displays based on the plants' characteristics and the layout of each Garden Center.

Merchandisers unload plant carts onto fixtures and maintain the overall appearance of displays by culling and condensing plants.

Job Description

  • Maintains merchandising standards through the execution of live nursery programs
  • Keeps live goods displays fresh, neat, clean, and organized per layout
  • Communicates regularly with District Manager, Team Lead, and appropriate store staff
  • Informs supervisor of any issues with displays, product quality, safety, or store partners
  • Maintains a professional and customer-friendly attitude
  • Provides customer service and assistance with live goods
  • Follows company safety protocols to maintain a safe working and shopping environment
  • Follows customer and vendor policies and procedures in daily work routine
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience or desire to learn about plants and retail merchandising.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attentive to detail, with the ability to follow instructions precisely and ensure tasks are completed as required.

Job Setting & Physical Demands

Employees in this position work primarily outdoors and may be required to travel between locations within their assigned District and occasionally work indoors. Must be able to work in all outdoor elements, including dust and allergens. The role has some administrative duties such as submitting photographs and completing surveys that may be required. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check and use a smart phone. Fluency in the English language and the ability to see, speak, hear, read, and write are required. Must be able to lift and push up to 35lbs unassisted, occasionally up to 50lbs and perform buddy lift 51-100lbs. Must be able to walk, squat, twist, bend, reach, climb stairs and/or step stools under 5 feet on occasion.
