Description:

The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the care, repair, and overall functionality of all amenities at the Let Us Do Good Village Amenity Center. This role ensures that gym equipment, the party room, locker rooms, restrooms, basketball courts, and indoor/outdoor lounge areas are maintained to the highest standards. The Maintenance Technician performs hands-on maintenance, preventive upkeep, and repairs, and reports directly to the Director to ensure the facility remains safe, clean, and operational.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of common areas, infrastructure, landscaping, and equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting).
  • Implement and adhere to preventative maintenance schedules for equipment, including boilers, fitness equipment, and pool/whirlpool systems.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building systems, equipment, and furnishings.
  • Act as a liaison with third-party vendors that are required for repairs.
  • Respond to and resolve resident maintenance and repair requests, ensuring all concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Remain available to promptly address urgent maintenance issues, emergencies, and other time-sensitive resident concerns as they arise.
  • Monitor cleanliness and sanitation standards for the facility.
  • Support safe operation of gym equipment, courts, and common areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of maintenance supplies and ensure timely ordering of materials to support ongoing facility operations.
  • Setting up and breaking down rooms for events, moving furniture, and manage groundskeeping.
  • Respond promptly to facility emergencies, such as leaks, power outages, or broken equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain pool filtration, chemicals, and cleanliness, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and local safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance, custodial, or handy man experience is generally preferred.
  • Basic mechanical, electrical, and general repair skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multitask multiple projects.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks outdoors (i.e., cleanings, repairs) in varying weather conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite (or equivalent).

Working conditions

Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events needed.

The facility will operate seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Staff will work 8-hour shifts, which may include evenings and weekends.
